The Aaron Rodgers saga has finally ended. Aaron has been officially traded to the New York Jets along with this years 15th and 170th overall picks in the NFL draft. Green Bay receives the 13th and 42nd pick in this years draft as well as a 2024 conditional second that can become a first if Rodgers plays 65% of snaps for the Jets.

This is a win-win trade for both teams. The Jets finally get a good quarterback that makes them a Super Bowl contender. They are a perfect fit for Rodgers with their elite defence and talented offence. Garret Wilson is a young dynamic receiver who won Offensive Rookie of the Year with Zack Wilson and Mike White as his QB’s. Imagine what he will be able to do with Aaron Rodgers. The only concerning factor is that Aaron is 40 years old and coming off his worst season since his rookie year. Even if he has a good season this will likely be his last season, and they gave up a lot. Next year if Rodgers retires then they are in the same position they were before the Aaron Rodgers trade.

Nor for Green Bay, it is Jordan Love time. After sitting behind Aaron for a couple of seasons, Love finally gets the opportunity to be the starter. Aaron Rodgers was the face of the franchise but it was time to move on. Rodgers wanted out and Green Bay got a great return for him. The Jets could have let him retire or traded less as the Packers did not really have any leverage, but they were able to get a deal done. Green Bay has a good supporting cast on offence and defence. The draft picks the Packers have received will help fill in this roster and they could perhaps challenge for the playoffs.
